Department: Commercial and Strategy

I joined Quotient in early 2015 as a Quality Control Analyst with previous scientific experience gained predominantly in academia and academic research labs. Within the QC department my role involved in-process testing of all Quotient Reagent Red Cell, Antisera, Kits and Control Products from the incoming raw material to the final product stage.

Following a short in-house staff development rotation, I moved to the Quotient Product Support team in 2017, to begin a new role as a Product Support Scientist. Within Product Support my main duties include; product stability testing, investigating and addressing customer technical enquiries, performing reagent field trials and reagent comparator testing in a department that sits at the interface between Quotient and our customer.

The Product Support team also act as a service to other departments within Quotient performing technical investigations at their request on an ad-hoc basis. I find Quotient Product Support a fulfilling work environment as the workload is varied, intellectually stimulating and is completely focused and driven by our customers who are using Quotient products to make critical decisions in a clinal setting. 


Department: Supply Chain and Operations

I joined Quotient in Eysins Switzerland in May 2019 as a Supply Chain Coordinator after 10 years of experience in Customer Service working for different companies in various industries. I have enjoyed every step of the journey so far from recruitment stage to being 5 months into the job. During the interviewing stage, I got to meet different colleagues from different teams which enabled all of us to get a feel of the possibility of working together; This did not feel like the typical one-way interview process. The first few weeks at Quotient are focusing on training and getting to know the company where everyone makes you feel welcome.

My current role involves supporting Planning activities but as the company progresses towards its objectives with MosaiQ, it is likely to be involving different tasks in the up-coming year.

What enjoy the most about the job is the company culture, it is a safe area with everyone supporting one another and truly working together as one team. The environment is ethical, transparent and there is no competition between employees. The project stage we are at requires lots of flexibility and not every day is the same which can be challenging and stimulating. Quotient truly values its employees and understands the importance of well-being at work and offers outstanding working conditions. I am going to work every day with a smile on my face, happy to start a new day with my wonderful colleagues and I am proud to be able to take part in Quotient’s constant evolution.


Department: Commercial and Strategy

I joined Alba Biosciences (as the company was then called) on the 5th June 2012, the day of the Queen’s Diamond Jubillee, as a Scientist for the then very small group of committed individuals working on the MosaiQ project. It clearly became apparent that this was a very special and unique place to work.

As a scientist I was involved in many exciting parts of the development of the project from laser glass scribing to blood printing technology and even being part of gaining a patent for a unique microarray based cross matching technique. Being promoted to a senior scientist I became involved in the disease screening project and was proud to be working for a company that achieved the Queen's Award for Enterprise in April 2016.

Now as a Project Manager within the commercial and strategy group, I manage the disease screening projects and my role involves delivering these projects to agreed timelines. I use my skills in communication, networking and presenting along with the soft skills of being adaptable and collaborative to best effect to lead teams across two sites.

I am very much a believer that anybody can be a leader and take ownership and be accountable for their actions and decisions, whatever part of the business they are in. I also know that at Quotient there is (and has been) some fantastic teamwork and collaboration where groups across geographical boundaries have worked effectively together to achieve a common goal. As a Project Manager I think leadership should be about using your skills to create an environment where shared values and goals allow employees to perform to the best of their ability.

What I enjoy most about my role as a Project Manager at Quotient is the positive impact that I can make, both internally and externally. Internally with respect to the projects that I manage by trying my best to achieve the highest quality of work with the skills I have and externally keeping focused on the external customers (the clinicians who will be able to make a more informed and better decision towards clinical progress). It is also a very exciting time for blood transfusion science with our innovative MosaiQ project reaching key milestones over the last year.


Department: Supply Chain and Operations

As the first full time employee on the site I have been lucky to live and work through some amazing changes both in terms of facility infrastructure and people over the last 5 years.

If I look at where we started from, I began with just myself and one other employee in a small office, to where we are today with a fully functioning licensed factory and over 120 employees, it has been an amazing journey.

The highlight through it all for me has been the teamwork demonstrated not only by the Quotient team members, but also with the many consultants, contractors and vendors who have all been invaluable to get us to where we are now. By having a clear goal that everyone from the CEO down has believed in has enabled the team to work together to produce amazing results in a short time and we continue to do so.
